When you cross over the Manahawkin Bay via the Manahawkin Bay Bridge to Long Beach Island, you arrive Ship Bottom. Ship Bottom is known as the “Gateway to Long Beach Island”, as Route 72 provides the sole road access from Manahawkin in Stafford Township ending in Ship Bottom.
Long Beach Island is approximately 18 miles long . LBI is made up of six municipalities. The largest is Long Beach Township (LBT) which covers different locations throughout the Island. The other five are Barnegat Light, Harvey Cedars, Surf City, Ship Bottom, and Beach Haven.
